John Fox Obituary

On Saturday, March 22, 2003, John Alexander Fox, husband of the late Doris Fox, loving father of Joanne, Peggy and, Laura passed away peacefully at the Lions Prairie Manor.

Funeral service will be held in the Poplar Point Alliance Church on Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 1:30 pm with Pastor Les Kingdon officiating.

Interment will follow in the family plot at Setter Cemetery.

John was born on October 15, 1914 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, third child of Frederick and Emma Fox. John was raised in St. Marks, Manitoba. He was in the army during the WW2, serving with the Princess Patricia Light Infantry in Italy, France, and Germany. On June 2, 1947, John married Doris Atkinson. They lived most of their life on the farm west of Poplar Point where they raised their 3 girls, Joanne, Peggy and Laura. John was a carpenter and a farmer working long hard hours. He loved to dance and play numerous April Fool’s tricks on everyone. He also curled at Poplar Point during the winter.

John was predeceased by his parents, brother William, sister Elsie Donnelly, wife Doris, youngest daughter Laura Fryklund. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughters: Joanne (Donald) Payette, and Peggy Fox, all of Winnipeg, his granddaughters Donna (Guy) Greenlay, Patricia Payette, Jaylene and Jenna Fryklund, 2 great grandsons, Seth and Sage Greenlay, and one great granddaughter Skyla Greenlay. He was an Uncle to Bryan, Shirley, Dory, and Ronnie as well as many other nieces and nephews, and friends.

Friends may call for viewing at the Church prior to the service.

Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24 – 9th St. S.E., Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 3V4.
