John Beverly Obituary

John R. Beverly, 73, of Norton, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center. Born to the late Lonnie and Mary Gardner Beverly, he was the last surviving of nine children. He was a member and deacon of the Esserville Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Beverly is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Beverly; a daughter, Pamela B. Stewart of Norton; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Julia Beverly of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Caitlin Stewart and Emily Beverly; his sister-in-law, Betty Bentley; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Friday at 10:30 a.m., where they will travel in procession to the American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, where graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Esserville Freewill Baptist Church, c/o Ernest Culbertson, 6513 Union Hall Road, Norton, VA 24273.
