John Arden Obituary

Arden, John W. "Jack" age 77, passed away January 1, 2003 in Glenview, of complications from Parkinson Disease, beloved husband for 49 year of Joan (nee Collins), dear father of John Jr. (Sally Clark), Peter, James (Martha Ray), Thomas (Joellen Varga) and Patrick (Esther D'Souza), loving grandfather of Katie, Sean, Emma, Johnny, Carolyn, Daniel and Liam, devoted brother of Harriet Arden of Clearwater, FL, the late Mary Beth Albright and the late Harry Arden, loving son of the late Wallace and Mary (Murphy) Arden. Born and raised in Evanston. During WWII he volunteered for service in the Army Air Corp., flying more than 20 missions over Europe as a B17 crew member and receiving numerous decorations. He attended the University of Illinois and was called back to service during the Korean War. Upon his return, he opened a jewelry store in Wilmette (Arden Jewelers) which he operated for nearly 40 years. Visitation Friday, 5 to 9 p.m. at the N.H. Scott Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview (two blocks south of Lake Ave. on west side). Funeral Mass Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 3360 Thornwood Ave., Glenview, IL 60025. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Church.
