Joel Maxheimer Obituary

CAYCE%%Services for Joel Lamarque Maxheimer, 46, of Cayce, will be held at 2pm Sunday, February 6, 2005 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, conducted by Rev. Paul Aebischer, Rev. Ginny Aebischer, and Mr. Art Wuertz, with burial to follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Birchmore, Eric Warren, Kenny Stephens, Todd Griffin, Dave Castine, and Dean Godfrey. Honorary pallbearers will the cheerleaders of B.C. High School. Memorials may be made to B.C. High School Athletic Department. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Maxheimer died Thursday, February 3, 2005. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Lamarque Woodford and Barbara Merle Clippard Maxheimer.

Mr. Maxheimer was employed with the University of South Carolina Postal services for 21 years prior to becoming USC Firemarshall. Following high school he attended the University of South Carolina. He was an avid outdoorsman, and Gamecock fan. He had a love for cooking, and supported the cheerleading and soccer programs at B.C. High where his daughter attends. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are his loving wife, Vicki D. Maxheimer of Cayce; his daughter and best buddy, Mandi Maxheimer of Cayce; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Don Maceachern of Lexington, and Vicki L. Maxheimer of West Columbia; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cindy Maxheimer of Cayce; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; and special dog, Hunter.

Mr. Maxheimer was a best friend to all who knew him because of his wit and great sense of humor. He was a wonderful family man, who loved and adored his wife and daughter.
