As a former patient, I have joyful, vivid memories of Dr. Parry. Her area of expertise might have been on death and dying but more than this, she understood living. Her insightful and thought-provoking advice has served me well in my life— I still hear her words of encouragement, although it has been more than twenty-five years since I sat across from her in a trailer in Glen Cove. Joan Parry had a most unique and often humorous slant on human nature...I am saddened by news of her untimely passing. I wish her sweet dreams…

My five years living in San Diego had, amongst the many highlights, a chance to get to know and work with Joan Parry

It was my pleasure to continue to work with Joan in her many volunteer activities, especially those related to the teaching and dissemination of the advantages of social group work.

I've been sad about her illnesses and her untimely death. She had so much more to offer, despite her multitude of contributions.

We needed her and we will continue to work as she did in her honor.
