Jennie Evelyn Van Fossen

Potterville

Jennie Evelyn Van Fossen, died March 12, 2014. She was born in Flushing on January 22, 1926 to LaVern and Mildred Petherbridge. As a young girl Evelyn helped her mother and father work on their farm in Flushing. As she got older Evelyn worked in retail. She met her husband Dick Van Fossen while working in a soda shop in Flushing. They married and Evelyn started raising their family while Dick served his country in the Navy. In 1954 Evelyn and Dick with their three children moved to Potterville and were welcomed with open arms. There she worked actively with her new community starting with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Rainbows and many others as the years went by. Evelyn became the Library Director for the Potterville Benton Township Library and she never looked back. Evelyn enriched the lives of every patron that walked through the door, as they enriched hers for 45 years.To all of you Thank You we will all miss her greatly. 

Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Dick Van Fossen; sons, Rick (Theresa), Mike, Sr., her sister, Marg (Walt) Edling and their children.  Also her grandchildren, Ryan (Michell) Hastings, Christy Jo Hastings, Mike (Allysa) Van Fossen, Ben (Kathy) Van Fossen, Marley Van Fossen (Shane), Jenni (Chuck) Sesniak, Josh (Ashley) Van Fossen and 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Van Fossen Paine, Kelly Van Fossen and Dave and Cliff Petherbridge.

A Gathering of family and friends will be at the Masonic Lodge, 4925 N. Royston Rd. in Potterville on Sunday, April 6, 2014 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00p.m. Arrangements by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home.
