Jeffrey Lowenthal Obituary

My condolences for your loss as well as a loss to our community. Jeffery was a dedicated volunteer. He sought to improve the quality of life especially for the citizens of Maywood. He will be sorely missed.

Jeff was a pillar in the Maywood community and will be sorely missed. My hearfelt thanks for his work and sharing him with us goes out to his family.

To the Lowenthal family I would like to extend my condolences on behalf of your relative Janice Vodianoy Roberman, daughter of Morris and Anna Vodianoy and her nieces Judy and Sue Mandel, daughters of Doris Vodianoy Mandel. We have not been in touch with the family for a while, but we were saddened to hear of the untimely death of Jeffrey.

Dear June, Jody & Jill: You may not remember me but you might remember my mother, Charlotte Hoffstadter Schwartz. I was shocked to learn of this tragey from my brother, Alan, who lives in Oak Park & works at Loyola Hospital. I have fond memories of being at your home when I was young. My deepest sympathies to you & your family on this terrible loss.

Dear Jody and Jill: My heartfelt sympathy to the Lowenthal and Bahcall families on the tragic loss of your brother. I remember both of you from Proviso, and still have many lovely things my late mother bought from Bahcall's in the 60's. May your brother's memory be for a blessing.

The Bachall Family is in my prayers at this difficult time. The Bachall Hardware Store was, "the place to go" for anything you ever needed. My family, especially my father, would always say, "go to Bachall's and get it!" May God forever keep His loving arms around you. I am no longer in the Maywood area and my parents are gone, however, memories of "home" remain in my heart and Bachall's is a lifelong memory. God Bless.

To the Lowenthal and Bahcall families: Hopefully, the outpouring of prayer and support is helping you all through this tragedy. I can certainly testify to how important Jeff and Bahcall Hardware has been to my family--as it has been to numerous Maywood natives. Please know that your loss is felt by so many.

My deepest and sincerest sympathy to the Bacall and Lowenthal Families. I have known Jeff since 1978 when I was a salesman that called on Bacall Hardware for many years. I have spent many hours in both stores at the time with Gerry, June and Jeff, writing orders and socializing. It was always a great experience. My condolences to the Lowenthal and Bahcall family. I was really upset to read about this tragic loss. I grew up in Bellwood and went to both Proviso East and West and am always tuned in to news of my hometown area. I did not know Jeffrey, but I did know Jody. May your entire family be blessed with strength and compassion as you pass through this time of pain.

Being a life long resident of Maywood, I have had the pleasure of knowing and interacting with Jeff for many years. Jeff and his family have been a fixture in the Maywood community and is noted for their hardwork and service. Jeff will be greatly missed!

I remember Bahcall Hardware as a child growing up in Maywood, we lived next door, my deepest smpathy to the Bahcall and Lowenthal families.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I have known Jeff for 19 years and I always thought of Jeff as a friend and a really great guy.
I am the former owner of Hascek-Melville Corporation, an industrial flooring contractor that was located in Maywood for more than 50 years.
We bought all of our hardware and maintenance supplies from Bahcall Hardware. I fondly remember Jeff's Mom and her German Shepard sitting at her feet behind the counter at the store.
When I memtioned to Jeff that we often used Lacquer Thinner, he started carring 5 gallon cans in stock just for us. Another time, I mentioned we liked a certain type of squeege and the next time I came into the store he had them in stock just for us.
He was not only there to help us, but he was always there to visit with us as a friend.
He will be deeply missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.

was my student in third grade. He was a very sweet child and a delightful member of my first class. Although I don't remember all the children in that class, I do have remember Jeff. I know every one will miss him very much.

I was very saddened to learn about Jeffrey's death. It came too soon and in such a horrific manner. My heart goes out to all of you.

My most treasured moments consist of my father, Elliot, taking me on the "Bahcall tour" around Maywood and Oak Park. I had the pleasure of meeting all of the cousins, Jeff and June included. They were all very warm and welcoming with many family stories to tell.

I didn't know Jeff really well. I met him during the testing process for the Maywood police department. He was the only person in the past five years of testing at various departments to work with me on not testing on the Sabbath. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies. We were both shocked and saddened to hear. My husband and I got to know Jeff many years ago when we both worked for Western Heating. We found him so understanding and willing to help with any questions we had - usually about a lawnmower. I was a friend of Jeff's and of Jeff's sister Jill in high school. I also knew Jeff thru the hardware store.
