Jean Poyner Obituary

Mrs. Jean Gillespie Poyner, 83, of Vardaman, MS., passed away Saturday May 29, 2003 at the North MS. Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. She was born, August 17, 1919, to Dee and Lucy James Gillespie in Vardaman, MS. She was a retired restaurant manger, and of the Baptist Faith.

Services were held 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Vardaman, MS., with the Rev. Robert Earl Alexander and the Rev. Charlie Sords officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman, MS. Parker Memorial had charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her sister, Mildred Hardin of Vardaman, MS., two grandchildren; Shelley Adams of Oxford, MS. and Stephen Poyner of Ringgold, GA. and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Poyner, he passed away 03-19-1988 and preceded in death by her son, Ken Poyner.

Pallbearer were David Hardin, Don Sanderson, Tommy King, Leon Ruth, Martin White, and Bradley White. Honoary Pallbearers were Kay Hardin, Bob Boutwell, and A.B. Ruth.
