I have a very vivid memory of Jean arriving at our house when I was very young. I was enveloped by this glamorous lady in a fur coat who called everybody Honey. My Grandfather (Jean's Uncle) visited America with Jean and Bonnie where they skied. I have some wonderful photos of Jean and letters between her and her relations here in the UK over many years. I am happy for any family members to contact me.

My sympathies are sent to all who knew and loved Jean Pirie. She was my father, John Pirie’s, cousin and I know my Dad had fond memories of his beautiful cousin’s visits to Scotland and the Pirie family homes of Auchanachie, and Little Daugh.
I remember meeting Jean when she was on her European tour, probably around forty five years ago, and she was staying in London. She had bought a beautiful Spanish dancer’s dress, and took great pleasure in showing it off to all the family.(We Pirie girls were most impressed.) When I met Jean she had such a great love of life, an enormous sense of fun and was proud of being a Pirie, a strong trait that run’s through the Pirie clan I believe. To me she seemed like a glamorous film star and that’s how I will remember her.
I am sorry I was unable to be at Jean’s funeral to pay my respects, but I’m glad to hear Jean’s Scottish roots were celebrated in her memorial service, with the reading of “My Heart's in the Highlands” and the playing of "Amazing Grace". May she rest in peace, "another star to twinkle in the heavens".
In Loving Memory From Carol Sadelaar (nee Pirie), Jean’s first cousin (once removed).

I feel I just have to mention my only real memory of Jean. My father was her cousin and I remember the tale he told of how he displayed a photo of her in his RAF locker during the war - possibly the picture in the photo gallery now! All his forces mates admired her and enquired as to whom she was - now I see her photo it is very easy to see why. I was touched to hear how she found Jesus and trust that she and my father will now be able to greet one another in Heaven. x

I am sorry I couldn't attend Jean's services. I am Magdalen Jurgensen Barr, Jean's first cousin on her mother's side. I am 99 and knew Jean in her younger years. I was invited many times to dinners at John and Clara's house when I was in college in St. Paul. Then Jean was only around 3 years old. The Steinway grand piano that was in my home for 48 years and is now in my daughter's home was originally Jean's mother's piano. I would have enjoyed meeting and talking with Jean's Pirie relatives from the UK. Please feel free to write at this email address.

To All,
Jean was a good friend of mine for over 20 years. Working for her as well as her hairstylist, we grew close over the years. She even got to know my daughter. Her passing, while extremely sad, leads her to her true home. About a year before Jean was under care, she did come to a relationship with Jesus. We talked and ofter prayed. It was really edifiying to her and lifted her greatly. I know this is something not everyone knows, but I know she would want everyone to have knowledge of, and to know how Jesus lifted her. I will greatly miss Jean, but will see her with our Lord Jesus. Be blessed, and love always.

Jean Pirie was my friend and my sister-in-law. I first met her in 1940 and we became friends. I brought her home and introduced her to my brother Alonzo B.Kight and they fell in love and married. I have kept in touch with Jean over the years. Bonnie, her daughter often visited with me and my family. I am sorry for the loss of Bonnie and for the death of Jean. I would be pleased to hear from any relative.
I knew Jean only by stories from my mother, Magdalen Jurgensen Barr, and from Jean's pictures in mother's photo album. This picture was my favorite. She was beautiful, wasn't she? Magdalen Barr Bigelow

I send blessings and condolances to Jean's family and friends. Jean's mother, Clara Haskamp Pirie, was my grandmother, Emma Edelbrock Jurgensen's half sister. My mother, Magdalen Jurgensen Barr was Jean's cousin. I am Jean's second cousin. We lost track of Jean and would love to know more about her life. Please consider the Haskamp family present in spirit at her services.
