Friend of Jay

Jay was one in a million! He burned like a comet in the night sky. I haven't thought of him in years but today, the new love in my life, Dinesh, said to me in a message, "do you know what my favorite song is?" I told him no. In a few minutes he sent me the song, "Hallelujah." It was one of Jay's favorite songs. The Leonard Cohen version.
OMG! Jay was someone I loved very much and after 18 years, the Lord has blessed me with an incredible man from India. I am so blessed. To have two loves like this in one lifetime. I can't wait to get to Heaven and see Jay with his shy smile and gravelly voice.
I pray that you, his loved ones, are well wherever you may be at this season in your lives. God is good, kind, generous and doesn't forget us or cast us aside. Jay knew Jesus before he left this earth, praise the Lord. I hope that each and every one of you will have a radical encounter with Jesus Christ before you pass from this earth. Jesus gives you peace and joy that can be found nowhere else.
May God bless you.

Jay came to mind a few minutes ago. It's hard to believe he's been gone 13 years. Shortly after he passed on, I had a dream which I believe was a gift from the Lord. In the dream, there was an elderly man wearing bib overalls and it seems I was on a farm. There was a pasture with green grass. All of a sudden this horse came running in the pasture. He was a beautiful chestnut brown and had a black, flowing mane. I believed in my heart that it represented Jay and that he was home, free of all pain and anxiety. I hope we meet again in Heaven. We will have a lot of catching up to do. Blessings to his family. I hope your memories of Jay keep him close in your hearts.

To My Friend, My Jaybird
You now have met your Maker Jay, your pain is gone, your free,
From all of us left here on earth, your soul lives on eternally.
Our memories we have of you Jay-bird, will never go away,
You shared with me all the forgiving you did, every single day.
We talked about the day when we no longer could fill our shells,
You told me you did not want tears, so within my eyes they dwell.
You wanted me to be happy for you, your in a better place,
So when I think of you Jay-bird, I'll wear a smile upon my face.
I will never forget my Jay-bird, in my heart you'll always be,
I love you my friend Jay Carter, I'll see you again, now rest peacefully.
Your Forever Friend,
Lynn Marie
Miriam and family,
I am so very sorry for the loss of Jay. We talked often but I wish we had talked more. He was such a good friend and I will miss him. Ilove you all and your family will be in my thoughts. Lynn

Jay was a very special person who touched many lives. He had many gifts and used them to minister to others. He and I shared the gift of writing and a love for nature. One of his favorite past times was feeding the squirrels in Loring Park. They would come up to him and eat out of his hand.
Jay was in my soul and I am heartbroken at his passing. I know that he is with Jesus and his dad and grandpa who he talked about fondly.
I pray for God's comfort to his mom, Miriam, his sisters and brothers especially Tim and Michael. A part of him lives on in each one of us.
I wrote a poem shortly after meeting Jay and it was a very personal one but the first couple lines say,
"Jay Carter,
Firestarter,
Fanned a flame that I thought was gone."
He evoked strong emotions in people and will be very much missed.
