Jason Gruber was born on November 26, 1972, in Coon Rapids, MN, to Chuck and Karen (Poster) Gruber. He grew up in Pierz, MN, where he attended school and graduated from Pierz-Healy High School with the Class of 1991. Jason was united in marriage to Debra Kron on June 12, 1999, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN.

Jason learned the value of hard work at a very young age, helping out on the family farm and later spending countless hours on the Poster grandparents' dairy farm in Buckman, MN. These early experiences shaped the strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. He later worked alongside his father, Chuck, doing carpentry, gaining skills that would become his life's work. Jason eventually ventured out on his own and built a very successful business, Jason Gruber Construction, a company he took great pride in. A true craftsman, Jason built many beautiful places his customers were honored to call home. One of his proudest accomplishments was later having his two sons join him in the business, working side by side as a family.

Jason loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was always eager to share his passions, not only with his wife, boys, and friends but also with his nieces and nephews. Jason especially enjoyed processing his own wild game. He spent as much time as possible at his cabin and hunting land. Whenever the family traveled, he made sure there was a way-and a place-to get out on the water. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends and was very involved with St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic School in Pierz. Jason loved his Pierz community and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Above all, Jason was a man dedicated to his wife and boys and knew the importance of balancing work and play. He was a true builder of homes, family, faith and community.

He is survived by wife, Deb Gruber of Pierz, MN; parents, Chuck and Karen Gruber of Pierz, MN; sons, Simon (Randi) Gruber of Pierz, MN and Louis (fiancé Madelyn Smude) Gruber of Pierz, MN; siblings, Jennifer (Richard) Roach of Little Falls, MN, Aaron (Sarah) Gruber of Vicksburg, MI, Nathan (Kari) Gruber of Pierz, MN, Mathew (Shauna) Gruber of Glencoe, MN, Mick (Dawn) Gruber of Pierz, MN, Rachel (Chris) Young of Pierz, MN and Isaac (Kayla) Gruber of Pierz, MN; mother-in-law, Diane Kron of Coldspring; brothers-in-law, Dean (Stacie) Kron of Coldspring, MN and Dan (Melissa) Kron of Coldspring, MN; sister-in-law, DeAnna (Shawn Pundsack) Kron of Coldspring, MN; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by grandparents, Lawrence and Leora Poster and Art and Verna Gruber; father-in-law, Denny Kron; godfather, Douglas Gruber and nephews, Lawrence and Douglas Gruber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Trinity Catholic School in Pierz, MN.

We are so very sorry for the family. Renee and I are in shock at the news of Jason´s passing. We are presently traveling and are also very sad to miss his celebration of life. I´ve known Jason since a small boy and have always appreciated his thoughtful and caring mannerisms. Jason, Simon and Lewis just recently finished our home on Pelican Lake and we could not have been more satisfied with their professionalism and craftsmanship. Jason will surely be missed by many.

Chuck, Karen and family
Words can't express the pain you're feeling. I, too, lost my youngest son going on 3 years now, and there's not a day I don't miss him. The pain never goes away. It does help to talk about him.
May the memories of Jason give your family some comfort in knowing he's in heaven watching over All of you!

Chuck and Karen, I am so sorry to read about your loss. I really don't know what to say! I'm at a loss for words (rare for me!). I just can't imagine losing a child. I know nothing of the circumstances, but regardless the reason, I'm sure the hurt is still the same. A hole in the heart forever. I'll have you in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings and Peace!

Jason built our cabin on Camp Lake and it couldn't have been more perfect. He was so easy to work with and did an amazing job where my whole family spends most weekends. We couldn't thank him enough to give my family by what he built for us. Our prayers go out to all his family. Nancy & Tom Mattison.
