James Wildes Obituary

Blackshear, GA Mr. James Otis "Jim" Wildes, Jr., 72, passed away late Saturday evening, May 13, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida following an extended illness.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he had lived in Pierce County since 1973. He attended high school in Kennebunk, Maine prior to joining the service. He was a retired United States Air Force Master Sargent with twenty-two years of service and had recently retired as an independent truck driver. He was a member of the Kings Bay Moose Lodge # 2418 and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Lakeview Golf & Country Club. Mr. Wildes was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge # 369 and was also a past commander of the American Legion Post 181. He was the son of the late James Otis, Sr. & Edith Anderson Wildes and was also preceded in death by a son, Jay William Wildes, and by a sister, Caroline Ruth Wildes.

Jim is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Dorothy Dixon "Dottie" Wildes of Blackshear; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda & James Hebert of Montgomery, MA; two step-daughters and a step-son-in-law, Terri Dobson and Bonnie & Billy King all of Middleburg, FL; a sister, Susan Wildes Turner of Portland, OR; 7 grandchildren, Cory, Wendy, Keith, Jeremy, Kyle, Thomas and Ben; a great grandchild, John and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service for Mr. Wildes will be held Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006, at 11:00 o’clock at Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Southeast Cancer Society, PO Box 2764, Waycross, GA 31502.
