James Van Geertruy Obituary

Van Geertruy, James J. 74 years. Beloved son of the late Frank (late Eleanor nee Risch) Van Geertruy; devoted brother of Mary Sopron, and the late John Van Geetruy; loving uncle of Deb (Ron) Glowacki, John (Gail) Sopron, Kay (Bob) Dean; great-uncle of Geoff, Steve and Rob Glowaki. Jim passed away peacefully at home, which is what he wanted. A lifelong Canaryville resident and 4th Degree member - Past Grand Knight of the Madonna Council Knights of Columbus. Jim was a tireless volunteer and proud member of St. Gabriel Church. An avid bingo player and bowler, he participated in the "Beat the Champs" Tournament in 2013. Jim will be sorely missed by his many friends. Funeral services 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015, from the Thomas McInerney's Sons Funeral Home, 4635 South Wallace Street, Chicago, IL to St. Gabriel Church, Mass of the Resurrection 10:00 a.m. Visitation Friday, November 13, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Gabriel's Building Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital appreciated.
