James Reilley Obituary

Dear Reilley family,

I found out today of the passing of your dad/husband. I knew Jim on a business matter, he always made me feel like a long time friend whenever I visit his office Jim always talked about all the photos around his office, which always made me feel comfortable. I didn't work with Jim long but he left a lasting impression. My prayers go out to the family, and I will never forget the kind words and advise he gave me. He truly will be missed

Jim was getting started in private practice about the time I started with the States Attorneys Office. He was always an honorable adversary whose word was as good as gold. My deepest sympathy to his family for your great loss and for the loss to the entire legal community.

Dear Roberta, Kim, Jamie, Stacie and all the Reilley family,



We are so saddened by the loss of Jim, our long, long time friend. From our trips together to Marco in the 60's and 70's, raising our children in the 80's, and dinners and more time to relax in the 90's. We always thought there'd be more time together. A great loss to all of us and our very deepest sympathy to you, Bert, the girls and their families, and all who knew and loved Jim. We wish we could have been there with you through this. There are no words that I can write that will ease your pain. The only way to make this go away would be to bring Jim back to you and this can not be. But you do have the knowledge that Jim was a man amoung men and would always be there for anyone when needed. We have personal experience of this. He was the kind of man you built your life with and the genes your children have passed on to their children. You have a physical and emotional place to hold to....he will always be in your hert...he will never be gone.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Reilley. I still remember all of you from when we all lived on Debra in Des Plaines. My father, John, passed away almost 4 years ago, so I know how you are all feeling. I hope that you take comfort in the fact that he is in a better place. He will always be remembered by all of you. My sincere condolences to the family of Jim. When I was a young lawyer 20+ years ago, Jim was a role model for those of us starting out. He was always cheerful and courteous. He was a superlawyer.

My sincere condolences to the family. As a Chicago criminal defense trial lawyer, I knew Jim for many years, having first met him when he was a prosecutor in Narcotics Court. He was an ethical, hardworking, capable attorney, and he will be missed.

I remember how handsome Jim looked at breakfast on your wedding day and thinking how lucky Roberta was to have you. God bless.

I just learned of Jim's death and am truly saddened. I first met Jim when I was a young prosecutor in Narcotics Ct. in 1974. He was a fine lawyer and a man of integrity. We mantained a professional friendship until I retired in 1999. Jim helped me a great deal in 1982. I'll never forget him for his kindness towards me. Again, I am truly saddened by his death. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Please know that you are in our thoughts as you endure this most difficult time. I am so sorry. Please find comfort in knowing that others care, but also in knowing that you were a loving daughter.
