JAMES NEUBAUER Obituary
Upon graduation from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts in History he entered the United States Navy, becoming a fighter pilot and eventually reaching the rank of Lieutenant. While serving two combat tours during the Vietnam War off the flight decks of the U.S.S. America and the U.S.S. Coral Sea he flew 220 combat missions, receiving multiple Navy commendations and Air Medals for individual actions taken during combat. Upon his discharge he went on to fly for Eastern Airlines and United Parcel Service before retiring and continuing his passion for flight with AirCombatUSA. Throughout his life, he was always most at home in the sky.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tina Austin Neubauer and his devoted children, Rachael Neubauer, Sam Neubauer and his wife Michelle, Andrew Neubauer and his wife Kristin, and Daniel Neubauer and his wife Kelly. He is also survived by two beautiful grandchildren, Cole Neubauer and John Neubauer. Additional survivors are his brothers, Rick Neubauer and Bob Neubauer and his wife Ivy.
A memorial service is planned to be held at the AirCombatUSA facility at Fullerton.

Tina, my ex-husband Bill Tomlinson a former Navy Helicopter HC 1 pilot and I were close friends of your husband's during the Viet Nam War era. He was a gem of a guy. Jim's first wife Melinda and I were Navy wives who followed the aircraft carrier The Coral Sea in the late 1960s and traveled all over South East Asia with little Rachel. Jim was always ready for any travel adventure.. The two guys joked lots and loved each other's company.
When Bill was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 1994, Jim came down to San Diego with a video of Bill flying his helicopter. Needless-to-say, the two Navy buddies reminisced and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. Jim's visit meant the world to Bill, Tina. I hope this finds you and your family well.

Jim, was such a unique guy, we were just reminiscing about flying with him as our first Pilot at Cobra Engineering, and seeing him out on the tarmac in Chino. Also getting the chance to go up with him and the other pilots at AirCombatUSA was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
His vast experience, gave you confidence in a plane that was unparalleled. Truly gone to soon, and made memories that will last a lifetime... Godspeed to you Jim... we hope everyone in the family is doing well. Hard to believe its been almost 7 years since Jim left us all.

I was indeed sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I knew him at UPS where he was always given the greatest respect and considered to be a wonderful human being. May God give you the stsrength to carry on and live life to it's fullest as you have it

I am so sorry for your loss and kicking myself for not getting together with you while Jim was still healthy. This is another reason we should not procrastinate.You and all your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. If I had this information earlier I would have driven up for the service.

Tina, I know this is not the traditional way to send condolences but it's seemingly the best way to do over the miles..all I can say is I'm praying for you and your family and know all of your childhood friends are thinking of you at this time.
