James Moore Obituary

James E. "Jim" Moore, 71, of St. Elmo, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont, with the Rev. Olen Evans officiating. Burial was in Sidener Cemetery in rural St. Elmo, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. Visitation was held from noon until time of services on Saturday. Memorials: Sidener Cemetery or Fayette County Hospice. Online condolences can be expressed at www.giesekingfh.com.
Mr. Moore was born on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1946, in Keyesport, the son of Darrell and Mary (Cook) Moore. He married Joyce Durbin on March 5, 1967, in St. Elmo.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during Vietnam. He was a retired boilermaker with Local 363 and a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Joyce; sons, Chris (Angela) Moore, and Ty (Dawn) Moore, both of St. Elmo; daughter, Andrea Mahaney of Mattoon; brother, Mickey (Fern) Moore of St. Elmo; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Forson.
