James McCoy Obituary
Dr. James J. McCoy, 78, of Chicago and Lake Geneva, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024.
Dr McCoy, better known to his friends and loved ones as Jim, was born on March 10, 1946, to the late James and Helen (Smurro) McCoy Jr. in Niles, Ohio. He attended Notre Dame University and received his medical education at Loyola Medical School, Chicago. On November 22, 1992, Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ruth Goldwater.
Jim was remarkedly passionate about his practice of family medicine and geriatrics. He loved the relationships he developed with his patients. His warmth, empathy and inviting presence was cherished by others both in his professional and personal life. Outside of his work, Jim loved to spend his time in movement (whether it was biking, running or yoga), cooking, or settling down with a good book and hanging out with his wife Ruth and their dog, Roxie.
Jim is survived by his wife Ruth, two children; Alexis (David) Forsythe and Bridget (Brendan) Lewis, three grandchildren: Patrick and Brendan Forsythe and Thomas Lewis, and his sister Cynthia Hlas. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, David Hlas.
Services for Dr. McCoy will be held sometime in the summer of 2024.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked that you donate in Dr. McCoy's name to Breathe Inc..

I did not know Jim but I see his wife Ruth walking everyday (rain, snow or sunshine) and recently heard of Jim´s passing. I just wanted to let Ruth know how sorry I was to hear of her loss. May he rest in peace
