JAMES FLYNN Obituary

James Patrick Flynn, known to many as "ARROW", was born September 2, 1950, the son of Melvin and Loretta Flynn. He died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Ambassador Hospice Unit in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 62.

James was born in Perry, Iowa, attending Webster Elementary until moving to Schleswig, Iowa in 1958. He was baptized and confirmed through the United Church of Christ. He left Schleswig Community High School in 1968 to join the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he chose to roam and work his way around the country. He is a member of the Denison Post No. 8 American Legion.

No one was a stranger to him for long. He was open, considerate, and respectful to all. He always had kinds words for everyone and his niece and nephews were a priority to him. They all have fond memories of his time and special attention. One of his many "philosophies" was "No half-stepping" and he lived life accordingly, especially when he struggled with numerous injuries and physical limitations after a near fatal car accident over twenty years ago. He remained as independent as he could, enjoying casino activity, listening to music, drinking coffee or Mountan Dew or eating chocolate ice cream while visiting with friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Rae; and one nephew, James Michael. Survivors include sister, Carol; two brothers, Ronald and wife Beverly; and Richard and wife MaryLu; niece, Jennifer (Dave), nephews: Jeffrey, Jesse, Jason (Nicole), great nieces: Raylee and Jasmine; and step nieces and nephews Charlie and Kellie; Jennifer and John; Kristin and Dave; and Dan and Hannah; one uncle, two aunts, many cousins, and numerous friends.

Funeral Services were held at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa,

Rev. Chris Burtnett officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.

Musical selections played on CD included "In The Garden," "A Little Help From My Friends by The Beatles," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Honorary Pallbearers were Al Quick, Alex Quick, and Austin Quick. Serving as Pallbearers and providing Military Honors was American Legion Post 8 of Denison.

The family invited everyone to Cronk's Restaurant for fellowship and coffee following the committal service. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
