James Delaney Obituary

James Delaney, 60, of Great Egret Circle, Sunset Beach, N.C., and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at his home.

Born on Aug. 13, 1947, in Scranton, he was a son of the late James and Celestine Loftus Delaney. A graduate of Saint Mary's High School, he continued his education at Luzerne County Community College and the Dale Carnegie School.

He retired as an account executive for the Citizens' Voice newspaper. Throughout his career, he earned numerous sales achievement awards.

Mr. Delaney was a member of the Board of Directors of the Citizens' Voice, Sand Piper Bay Men's Golf Group and Country Club, vice president of Sunset Village POA and a property association volunteer for 1st Tee Golf. His life was fulfilled through special times, outings and vacations with his great-nieces and nephews.

A brother, Robert Delaney and sister, Mary Ellen Seamon, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years and best friend, Cathy; sisters-in-law, Virginia Stivers, Ashley; Becky Sterowski, Plymouth; and Lorraine Sterowski, Catawissa; brother-in-law, Larry Sterowski, Plymouth; three nephews, five nieces, three great-nephews and seven great-nieces, including his goddaughter, his love and light of his life, Ariana Sterowksi, Kingston; brother, John and sister, Mary Jo Hogan, Wilkes-Barre.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from M.J. McLaughlin Co., 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to 1st Tee Golf, Brunswick County, P.O. Box 1820, Shallotte, NC 28459-1820.
