In addition to winning several fly-casting awards, Jim's many writing credits include published articles, newsletters and books such as Fishing Passion and Master your Fly Casting. His most recent book, Le Shack…a very special fishing place, which was published a few weeks before Jim died, describes the stories and characters of a hide-away in the woods, as well as Jim's "addiction to Central Wisconsin stream trout fishing." I was very sorry to hear that Jim passed away. I have thought of him often over the years and have very fond memories of working for Jim both at Safari Outfitters and Pan Angling, when he first started the business.
Jim was a very kind and considerate person to work for and I admired his knowledge of fishing and ability to convey that knowledge to others. I can still hear his clear voice as he dictated letters, sometimes for hours, but he was so eloquent that it never seemed boring, and he often threw in a little humor. It was always important to Jim to give his clients individual attention, so every letter was customized and he never used a “template”. The caring, positive attitude and professional courtesy he conveyed set up a standard I have never forgotten in future jobs.
My sincere condolences to Sally and to the members of your family.
