I served on the quigley alumni committee with jim for a few years. he was a caring man who contributed much to those whom he came into ccontact. you will surely cherish your memories of him.

Dr. Ahern was an excellent administrator during my years at Hirsch High School. His family will be remembered in my prayers. May you be blessed with God's comfort and peace. Class of January, 1967

It was a pleasure to work for him at the Nightingale School. He was a good and decent man and an outstanding principal.

I remember Dr. Ahern at Hirsch when I visited as an unauthorized student. But when I went to teach at Nightingale I became very fond of him as my Principal. Ahern was a wonderful boss. He always backed his teachers. I gave the school the nickname - St. Nightingale because of the way Ahern ran the school. RIP!

My deepest sympathy and prayers to the family of Mr. Ahern. He was the principal at Nightingale elementary school when I attended there. He was a kind and caring man who always smiled and had pride in his school and students.

remembering dr. ahern is to remeber a man that was strict but fair! He was the real principal at hirsch high school because of his involvemnt with the students. it was never a pleasure to be sent to the 'principlas office" BUT is was never really terrible if you had to have a conference with him. my sympathy to his fanily...he will surely be missed...

Although Dr. Ahern was the asst. principal at Hirsch we all thought of him as the principal because he was always so heavily involved with the students and their activities. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family and wish them peace and loving memories. He was a great aducator.

I will fondly remember Mr. Ahern (Dr.) as the principal of Bowen H.S. I shall never forget the many days that I was "summoned" to his office to send my math team to a competition on very short notice. He was so proud of those children and would say that they would represent Bowen well!! I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Your family is in our prayers.

Dear Ann:
Lee called us this morning with the sad news that we lost Jim. What a man!Jim Ahern was a gentleman and a man of honor. He would not deviate from the proper path nor would he compromise with incompetence or chicanery. He was a respected and trusted friend.
Nothing can lessen the pain of your loss. but time is tolerant and just.Jim lives in the hearts of those who loved and respected him.

I remember Mr Ahern from my days at Emil G Hirsch High School.. He was a man who cared much about his school. I was a graduate of 1973. My sincere condolences to his family. R Smith ( Chicago, IL)

I remember Mr. Ahern from being my principal at Bowen High School in the late 70' & early 80's. We didn't like each other too much but I do remember him as being a fair man that did listen to people.
