J. JOSEPH
CLIFTON, JR.
AGE: 40 MATAWAN
J. Joseph Clifton, Jr., 40, of Matawan, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Red Bank and was a lifelong resident of Matawan. He worked for the past ten years as a mason with Mandini Brothers, Holmdel. He was an associate member of the Washington Engine Fire Department, Matawan; and an avid Giant fan. Joe's family was his life. He was especially close with the kids. He also had a strong network of friends. He will be missed by all, but his memory and his heart of gold will live on in all of us.
Joseph is survived by his beloved daughter, Elise Clifton, 3 years old, who idolized her dad; his father, J. Joseph Clifton, Sr. of Akin, SC; his mother, Catherine Morrisey of St. John's Island, SC; his stepfather, William Kratinski of Brick; his wife, Colleen Tighe; two brothers, Mark Clifton of Hawthorne; and Daniel Clifton of Akin, SC; and two sisters, Amy Quinn and McKenzie Seitz, both of Eatontown.
Family and friends are invited Friday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Saturday, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clement's RC Church, Matawan. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joseph's daughter, Elise Clifton. Joey was one of the most affectionate people I've ever known. He was so quick to tell a friend he loved them and how proud he was of them. He truly wore his heart on his sleeve and cherished his friends and family. He is gone but not forgotten.
