I was sadden to hear of the lost of your father. I was a college student in the last 60's and worked with Irving at the jewelry store. He was always so pleasant and looked out for a young naive girl. He picked out my engagement ring for my husband and became our eye doctor as well. I have wonderful memories of him . He frequently talked about his love of family and especially, Jewel, the love of his live. My deepest sympathies to all who loved him.

Our family (Irene, Christine & Mom) have fond and loving memories of being neighbors with Irv, Jewel, Mrs. Boyd, Danny, Jeanie, and baby Jackie at 6718 Halsted Street in Chicago. They treated us all like part of their family.
I have pleasant childhood and young adult memories because of Irv and his wonderful family.
May his memory be eternal.

When I first met Dr. Kernis, I was still in Optometry School. We hit if off immediately and I now have Dr. Kernis to thank for my wonderful practice.
Twenty years has come and gone, yet the memories I have of you will last forever.
Irving, may you be eternally happy now that you can be with Jewel again.

With the passing of Dr. Kernis we've lost a true friend. He was always there for you when called upon. He truly loved life, his family and friends and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and life experiences with all. Dr. Kernis will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathies. Dr. Kernis was a great mentor, and I am a better person because of the fine doctor. He was a wise sage and always had some helpful advice to improve Optometry.
