Irvin Hargett Obituary

Irvin Lindsey Hargett Sr., 86, of Tuscumbia, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at home after an extended illness.
Mr. Hargett was born Aug. 24, 1925. He graduated from Deshler High School in 1944, and then served as a Merchant Marine during World War II. Irvin retired from Intervinyls in management to then a few years later, to honor his dad's memory, take on the position of working supervisor for Tuscumbia Railway, located in Spring Park, Tuscumbia. He retired in 2009.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Morrison Funeral Home, with the services at 11 a.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home chapel, Tuscumbia. Officiating will be the Rev. Eddie Wix. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hargett was preceded in death by his wife, Dulcie Hargett, and his parents, Bovell and Lucy Hargett.
He is survived by his sons, Danny Bovell Hargett (Joyce), of Sheffield, Irvin Lindsey Hargett Jr. (Brenda), of Tuscumbia, John Douglas Hargett (JoAnn), of Tuscumbia; daughter, Anita Kay Hargett Flanagan (Michael), of Tuscumbia; sister, Grazia Hargett Milstead, of Sheffield; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Russell, Kevin Hargett, Russell Carter, Matthew Flanagan, Seth Thompson and Josh Hargett.
