Irene Hill Obituary

Irene L. Hill, 80, of West Main Street, Norton, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Monday, August 27, 2007 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Acan “Bud” Edward Hill who died in 1978.
Born in Allston, MA on July 6, 1927, Mrs. Hill was a daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Zbinski. She was raised and educated in Allston.
Irene was employed for a period of ten years at Texas Instruments in Attleboro, retiring in 1988. Earlier she had been employed at the Hilsinger Corporation and the former McGill Box Company, both in Plainville. Characterized as a woman of great faith, Mrs. Hill was a member of Faith Alliance Church in Attleboro.
Irene was an avid bowler and was a member of numerous bowling leagues. She was a past president and a board member of the Foxvale Women’s Bowling Association and was a coach and former director of the American Junior Bowling Congress in North Attleboro and Brockton. A resident of Norton the past ten years, Mrs. Hill enjoyed spending time with her family and in later years her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hill is survived by two daughters: Patricia A. Jung and her husband Michael of Attleboro and Gretchen Goddard of Cumberland, RI; two sons: Edward J. Hill and his wife Mary of Big Canoe, GA and Kevin J. Hill and his wife Ulrike of Danielson, CT; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the beloved mother of the late Linda L. Barker.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating the life of Irene L. Hill on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 1 PM in Faith Alliance Church, 833 Pleasant Street (Route 123) in Attleboro. Following services an invitation is extended for all to return with the family for a time of friendship and fellowship in the church hall.
Visitation is respectfully omitted and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to: Faith Alliance Church, 833 Pleasant Street, Attleboro, MA 02703. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro.
