We wish to express our sincere sympathy for Meredith, Larry and Allen. Hy was my uncle and a beloved family member. Hy will be forever missed by all in his family.
His light will not diminish, but shine brightly on, guiding others when their way is darkest.

As Dad and I had our private moments together in the nursing home almost a year and a half ago talking about spiritual things, we had our private moments together, just him and I..alone..I talked with him, I sang to him..I reassured him that the God of Heaven and earth who heard him in prayer almost a year and a hslf ago, would be welcoming him into His presence. My Dad..our Dad..is in Heaven because he had trusted the One who was able to secure his soul.
I will see him again...because I loved him enough to tell him about the Lord who also loved him, too. I'm not ashamed to state these incidents which occurred in the past. I was with Dad in the nursing home then..alone...I was with him in the hospital..until the time he passed from this life unto a better one.
We will re-unite again......

Although it won't be the same, Grandpa Hy will always live in my heart and my mind. I will miss his presence at the Portnoff family functions. I am thankful that I am a member such a wonderful, supportive family.

Although I didn't know Hyman, I am very familiar with his daugher, Meredith. Meredith is a wonderful soul, who cares deeply for her community. She shoulders a great responsibility for tikkun olam (repairing the world). More than that, she's a good, caring friend. One of the wonderful ways that Hyman Portnoff approaches immortality is through the good life of his children. Using this rule as a guide, Mr. Portnoff was a good man.
