Howard Delaney Obituary
Howard Delaney, 80, at rest February 13, 2023, at his home in Berwyn, IL, following a two month battle with cancer. Howard was born on September 29, 1942 to William and Mary Delaney. He was proud to have served the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion. Howard was a retiree of Com Ed after many years of service as a linesman/troubleshooter. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Tyk); loving pops of Sean (Nicole Corso) and Scott; devoted grandfather of Meghan (Will) Richardson, Jacob, Nicholas. Emma and Sofia; dearest brother of David (the late Roberta) of Idaho, Michael (Mary) of IL, Sharon (the late Don) McElhaney of OK, Marie (Richard) Glidewell of FL, James and Virginia Delaney of IL; dear brother-in-law of Lynne Patten and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents William and Mary, brothers, William, Walter and John and sister Kathleen Martin. Howard loved his family deeply and had a passion for fishing. Visitation Tuesday February 21, 2023 from 3-8 P.M. at Cappetta's West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 4920 Main St., Downers Grove. Howard was my first cousin. We didn't see each other for a number of years, but reconnected with the family when we were back in Chicago, it was like old home week to see Howard and all of my Delaney cousins. Rest in peace and see all of your friends and family who are already in heaven.

The Brinker family extends our deepest sympathy to the Delaney family in the loss of Howard. He has been a friend since our son's Little league days until the day he passed. When you called on Howard for any kind of help he was right there- always smiling and, of course, bringing the right tools to complete the job. We fished a lot together, drank a lot of beers together, played the machines together, and just enjoyed talking together. Rest in Peace, Howard my friend.
