Hiram Plasterer Obituary

Hiram H. Plasterer Jr., 72, of 618 Pondside Lane, Lebanon, PA died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in his home. He was born March 31, 1934 in Lebanon, a son of the late Hiram H. Plasterer Sr. and Anna L. Gambler Plasterer. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1952 and then attended Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing for Men in Philadelphia from 1953-56. He served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from 1957 to 1959 being discharged as Captain. He graduated from the University of Illinois (Chicago Medical Center) with a BSN in 1973 and a MSN in 1976 and he served on the faculty of the College of Nursing, University of Illinois in Chicago, where he was Assistant Professor for 6 years. In 1996 he retired from the Department of Veteran Affairs having been the Director of Education at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He enjoyed travelling by train and travelled extensively throughout half of the United States. His most recent trip was to London and he sailed on the QE2. In his spare time he was an avid mystery novel reader, gourmet cook and gardener. Surviving is a Partner of 30 years, Gilbert Herrera of Lebanon; brother Roger Plasterer of Lebanon and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Jean L. Plasterer Auman and brother Frank Plasterer. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., Lebanon, PA has been entrusted to handle arrangements.
