Hilda B. Peschier

SCOTT - Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Hilda B. Peschier, 100, who died on Friday, October 18, 2013 at her daughter's residence in Scott surrounded by her family.

Entombment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum.

Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Katie Foret and Brandi LaBorde. Giftbearers will be her great grandchildren, Bennett Foret, Conner Foret, Ethan Foret, Payton LaBorde, Parker LaBorde and Paxton LaBorde. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, accompanied by Lauren Baker, violinist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace," " Here I Am Lord," "You Raise Me Up," and " Ave Maria."

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Marleen P. Prejean; two grandchildren, Ryan LaBorde and his wife, Brandi Langlinais LaBorde and Kathryn (Katie) Foret and her husband, Paul Foret; six great grandchildren, Bennett, Conner, and Ethan Foret; Payton, Parker and Paxton LaBorde. She is also survived by her best friend and devoted neighbor, Lucille Domingue, and her Angels of Mercy, Marilyn Decuir, Leatrice Melancon and Anna Jean Sonnier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peschier; one daughter, Suzanne Chatelain; one son-in-law, David "Boo" Prejean; one sister, Ruby Pitre; one brother, Bennett Broussard; and her parents, Clete and Laurence Broussard.

Mrs. Peschier was born in Broussard, Louisiana on July 3, 1913. She graduated from St. Cecilia High School in Broussard in May of 1930. She met and married Joseph Peschier in 1935 and became a full-time mother and homemaker. The family lived in Lafayette until 1950 when her husband's job relocated them to Abbeville. Upon her husband's retirement in 1977, they moved to Scott to be near her daughters. Mrs. Peschier loved being with her family and friends. She was an avid seamstress and also enjoyed playing cards. She was a devout Catholic, a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Community and attended Mass regularly until the age of 99. Mrs. Peschier was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Ryan LaBorde, Paul Foret, Grant Hebert, Michael LeBlanc, Damon McCartney and Will Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Francis Peschier, Michael Peschier, Jr., Percy Bernard, Jr. and Judge John E. Connery..

A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Art Bakeler on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Monday from 8:30 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mrs. Peschier's name to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School, 1301 Old Spanish Trail Scott, LA. 70583, or to Hospice Compassus, 1438 S. College Road, Lafayette, LA. 70503.
