Auerbach, Herbert M. age 77, beloved husband and best friend of Joan (nee Merkin), devoted father of Susan Krakower, David (Susan Ortmann) Auerbach, Beth (Daniel) Levin, Alan and Gail Auerbach, father-in-law of James Krakower, adored grandfather of Ganit and Eleza Krakower and Samuel Auerbach. Service Tuesday, 10 a.m., at The Weinstein Funeral Home North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kellogg Cancer Center, c/o Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201. Funeral information 847-256-5700.

Joan,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
You,Herb & my former wife Sandy used to 'double-date' - in the 50's .I remember Herbie & I talked about the 'wafers' he sold to churches and the 'bird-seed' business he was in. This past year we were in Mr. Stern's office in NY. He was the owner of the Hartz-Mtn. Co. It brought back fun memories of Herb & I talking business.

I am saddend to hear of Mr. Auerbach's passing. I always enjoyed chatting with Mr. Auerbach in the Auerbach kitchen durning my high school years. He knew so much about so much. I am so sorry.

Dear Joan and Auerbach family,
I send my deepest condolences and sympathy for the passing of Herb. I will miss his wonderful smile and words of wisdom in the Education Center at Chalet. I met him late in his life and I feel so honored to have become a friend. He used to give me all the credit for teaching him about gardening. I give him credit for wonderful philosophies about life. He was so proud of his family, always saying beautiful words about you all. My prayers and love are sent to you and to him.
