My experiences with Helen have affected my life in ways that are hard to explain, she nurtured in me the confidence to dare, the compassion to love and strength to persevere, my life is truly better having known her. I wish I had known of her passing, I would have loved to share with her family the impact she had on me and everyone she touched.

Dr. Timpone were do I begin? It wasnt until I googled your name and found out what happened to you. I wish I had known about your passing because I would have attended the services. Nonetheless, thank you for making such a great impact in my life. I have learned so much from you and our countless sessions together. You've made me into the woman I am today. I am so thankful for you being such a major influence in my life. I always viewed our patient/doctor relationship as so much more than that and for that alone I am grateful. Thank you and I love you beyond words.

To All of Helen's family,
Our family was shocked when I read about your Mom! I was very sad to hear that she died of the same thing my Mom died of, I was only 9! I certainly know how you are all feeling. Your Mom will always stay alive in your memories and will always be near in spirit. Brian, it sure has been a long time since we have seen you, remember the good old TIGER days? Know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers daily. Take care.

Helen was my mentor, counselor, teacher and like a second mother to me for nearly a decade... I can understand your pain and I know she is with you at this time. That is what she told me at my Mother's funeral. She helped me through the loss of my mother and literally stood by me at her funeral. I don't think I would have made it with out her! I can't believe she is gone. I can't believe she is gone... She was wonderful and I can only hope to be as graceful as she was someday... I can't come up with a word that describes everything she was however I am sure you understand what I mean...
My thoughts and prayers are with her family in this awful time and the times ahead. We were all so lucky to have been touched by her and I know how much she loved all of you! Thank you for sharing her...

Helen will always be thought of as professional, on target, and understanding in the way she spoke with me- one meeting years ago. She led me in the right direction and at the same time inspired me to be strong, go forward toward my life goals, and treat myself well. Her talent and ability to change and impact lives in a positive way will be missed and her death is a loss to this community- the south side, GSU and to so many lives that she touched - sometimes briefly but eternally. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing and pray that you all find strength in dealing with this tremendous loss.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Helen. She was my teacher, my counselor, and my friend for nearly ten years. She was like a second mother, always guiding me on how to be a good mother, a good nurse, a good wife, and a good friend. Helen spoke very fondly of Brian, Karie, and Brett, so much that I named my own son Brett. I'm going to miss her smile and her spirit. She has shaped my life in so many ways. She helped me through some very difficult times and supported me through my nursing school years. I am so blessed having crossed paths with her so many years ago and for having her as my friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Timpone Family.
There's a special bond between Mothers who nurture children at the same time from toddlerhood through teenage years. Some of my best memories of Helen from those early years are driving past your house with a load of groceries, seeing Helen unloading her groceries (usually with Brian or Karie helping) and she would wave me over to chat about family and life. Helen always made time for everyone and thought of everything. She's the one who organized our CCD carpool.

Being a Mother, I say this with utmost certainty, Mothers never leave their children. This is an unbelievably difficult and tragic time for you now and my prayers and thoughts are with you now and always. Brian, Karie, and Brett be assured that your Mom is not just watching over you now.....she is with you as always....caring, protecting, encouraging and loving you.

Lonn Wolf

June 13, 2008

I have known Helen as a student, a friend, and a colleague (both here at GSU and in private practice) for over 20 years. I don't know what to say. I am numb. I am filled with memories and unfinished conversations, but I cannot allow myself to feel anything but a vast emptiness of her loss. I have sat here at my keyboard for over an hour knowing I need to say something significant to honor and appreciate all that she has meant to me, yet the words won't come. From the very beginning of our relationship it dawned on me that she was teaching me as well as the reverse. My life is fuller and richer for having known her.
Another 20 minutes of thoughts and memories has gone by since the last sentence. I try to think of what she might say, and everything I think of is inadequate. She had a gift for zeroing in on the center of things in a way that was simple, straightforward, pragmatic, and brilliant. She did the "brilliant" with such humility and casual grace that it just seemed obvious when she focused on something. An exceptional therapist, a dynamite teacher, a devoted mother, a friend you could count on..... Vital, vibrant, dynamic, engaging, sensitive, independent, patient, considerate, forceful, determined, confident...
I am glad that many of you got to know her, and I am grateful that I had that opportunity so many years ago in Coun 855. She said that she had put off taking the class because she had heard "bad things" about me, but realized that I was the only person teaching that course. I think she just put it off because she had been pregnant with Brett. I used the paper she did in that class for many years as an example for new students. Her Internship packet became famous and was referred to as the "White Packet" by subsequent students who used it as a template of what a good packet should look like.
It is time to go to bed. Thank you for allowing me to talk a bit with you. I appreciate the sentiments that I have read and I wanted to say something even though I knew it wouldn't be enough. I am out of town until Tuesday, so I probably will not be able to share with you in person and the funeral/wake. Good night, Lonn
