If I could have chosen my partners in a perfect law firm, Harvey would have been at the top of my list. He was a brilliant trial lawyer and I admired him greatly. I valued him as a friend and I will always cherish my memories of his kindness to me. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Elaine and the rest of Harvey's family.

Many years ago, Harvey and I debated an issue at a Chicago Bar Association luncheon. The debate was on attorney-client privilege and how it was being extended to tax professionals. Harvey's position was to be con, while mine was to be pro. As anyone who knows Harvey, knows that Harvey had excellent knowledge in this area. Harvey could easily have "won" the debate and embarassed me with his abilities. He didn't do that. He was a gentleman, and toned down his discussion to meet my level. He was kind. I was thankful.

A year or so later, I received a Grand Jury summons by a State's Attorney the basis of which was somewhat in attorney-client privilege. One telephone call to Harvey and I was given the opportunity to deliver information to the State's Attorney's office and avoid the Grand Jury summons.

I was no one compared to the importance of Harvey. Yet he helped me twice in my life, without any expectation of anything for himself. I gave him my thanks and respect both of those times and now, I give him my spirit. May he be protected and guided on this next leg of his journey.

My condolences to his family. He must have been a wonderfully loving family man.

To Elaine and family:

I was so very sad to read of the sudden death of your husband and wish to convey to you and your children my very deepest love and sympathies at this time. He was always such a thoughtful and kind man and ever since our children were in the Latin School together,I always respected and enjoyed his company. And how wonderful it was to see you both at O'Hare recently when you were on your way to London and I forgot where Bill and I were going. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
With love, Alice Pirie Wirtz

Harvey was a legal scholar, a gentleman and a wonderful fun person. His presence on the legal stage will be missed. May the warm memories of him help fill the deep void in his family's hearts. My deepest sympathies. Adrienne Drell
