Harvey Jacobs Obituary
Jacobs, Harvey A. age 81, of Northbrook, died of complications from Emphysema and Crohn's Disease on Friday, January 9, 2004. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 58 years, Hermine (nee Cohn); son, Martin J. Jacobs; daughter, Lanis J. Howe (Tom Howe); grandchildren, Nicolas Howe, Courtney and Logan Jacobs. Harvey was the founder and former President/CEO of Lanmar Inc. in Northbrook, a packaging materials distributor/converter. He was a WWII veteran as bomber pilot of a B-26 Martin Marauder, with 57 combat missions in the European Theatre. He was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for his heroism and service. Private interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie. Memorial service at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, on Thursday, January 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. Please use Skokie Blvd. entrance opposite Old Olchard (Saks). In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your favorite charitable organization.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Harvey was the pilot on the B 26 that my uncle was killed on by the German Luftwaffe after Harvey and his crew of six bombed an aerodrome north of Paris.
We spoke on the phone many years ago and I recorded the talk. My uncle's name was Sgt Harland R. Bird Flight engineer.

I thoroughly enjoyed my association with Harvey at the North Shore Senior Center computer lab. He was always charming, helpful and funny. My sincere condolences to his family on this difficult loss.
