Guy Grider Obituary

Guy Grider, died Sunday, December 19, 2004 after a long struggle with Alzheimers. Born February 5, 1912 in Byars, OK to Howard and Emma Grider. Guy started the Grider grocery name in Oklahoma City in 1930 and built it for over 35 years. After his accomplishments in the grocery business, Guy continued to be active in a variety of other business endeavors. Guy enjoyed his family, the outdoors, and spending time telling folk tales about his youth and life. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters. Guy is survived by his wife Mary; children Stephen Grider, Tyler Grider, Kenn Benson and Kandi Mount, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous friends. Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Vondel Smith Chapel with burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

I did not know Guy personally but I worked at Griders For 12 years and am very appreciative of Guy for starting a wonderful place to work.

Please accept my condolences on your loss. I knew Guy back in the days when he had the store at SW 59th and Penn and recall many adventures.
