Gordon S. McClain Gordon S. McClain, 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Wellmont Hospice House of Bristol, Tenn., surrounded by his family, he left this Earth peacefully. He was born March 23, 1929 in Scott County, Va. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He retired as a carpenter to fulfill his father's wish to take care of his mother. He carried out this wish to the fullest. His father would be proud. He was a sweet wonderful man, a very loyal son, a loving brother and an amazing uncle, but most of all a great friend to everyone. His passion was gardening. He loved taking a seed, planting it and watching it grow. He was preceded in death by his father, William Frank McClain; mother, Ida Olivia Puckett McClain; brothers, Glen McClain, Lee McClain, Charles McClain, Jay McClain; and sister Janie Delph. He is survived by one sister, Dona Faulkner of Blountville,Tenn.; brother, R.F. McClain and wife Nora Frances of Bluff City, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Frances McClain of Blountville; along with many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his sister-in-law, Nora Frances; nephew, John H. Delph; great nephew, John W. Delph; and great niece, Brenda Borsch. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013, with funeral services conducted at Tri-Cities Funeral Home Chapel at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Lester officiating. Graveside services will be conducted starting 1 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be nephews: John H. Delph, John W. Delph, Bob Faulkner, Billy McClain, Steve McClain and Wayne Byington. A special thanks to the Wellmont Hospice House of Bristol, for such a wonderful staff and care.
