Gladys White Obituary

EFFINGHAM -- Gladys Pauline White, 100, of Effingham went to be with her Lord and savior Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2003) in Lakeland Health Care Center, Effingham.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Effingham. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, and one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Iola Cemetery. Memorials: First Baptist Church.

Gladys was born July 4, 1903, in Iola, the daughter of John Henry, a native of Germany, and Bertha Olive Beare Brown. She accepted Christ as her savior in her youth and joined the Iola Missionary Baptist Church. She was very active in teaching Sunday school, was a pianist for many years and sang. Most recently, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Noel Larkin White on April 28, 1926. He preceded her in death in 1958.

Surviving are her sons, Richard O. White and wife Deana of Effingham; William A. White of West Chicago; daughters, Dolores Wernsing and husband Robert of Teutopolis; Carol Lou Wolke and husband Paul Wolke Jr. of Sigel; Virginia Tripp of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters, Bessie Phillips of Flora; Marie Hobbs of Mary Ester, Fla.; grandchildren, Ronald Wernsing; Andrea Chahorborji; Jill Jones; Richard White; Linda Erickson; Susan Heller; Jerry White; Steven Wolke; Monte Wolke; Debra Collier; Kim Ulrich; 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infants, Robert Dean and Lillian Mae; eight brothers; four sisters; and son-in-law, James Tripp.

She will be greatly missed by all.
