GLADYS VEJSICKY Obituary

VEJSICKY GLADYS MAGDALENE VEJSICKY passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the presence of her family at the Morrison House/Genesis Hospice; after a brief illness at the age of 94. She was born January 20, 1922, to Ruldolf and Antonie (Pros) Tichy, Cleveland, Ohio. She was a graduate of James Rhodes High School, Class of 1940. She married James C. Vejsicky on September 26, 1949. She worked as an Executive Secretary at Cleveland Pneumatic Tool and then on to National Meter in Lancaster upon relocating in 1972. She transitioned from Lancaster to Evergreen Village and on to the Beckett House in New Concord. Gladys was Member of CSA (Czecholosvak Society of America), Eastern Star, American Legion, Tiki Bowling former league member and treasurer/secretary, PTO President John Dewey Elementary, Mills Memorial Choir member, avid golf ball hunter, chocolate lover, bingo player, sewer of veteran's ditty bags, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, baking, faithful sporting event fan, FMC hospital volunteer, loved the Lord and prayed for her children and grandchildren always, just to name a few. Gladys was also a member of Mills Memorial UM Church, and attended College Presbyterian Church after relocating and made frequent visits to the First Baptist Church of Cambridge, Ohio. Our Mother has many names, but she started signing her name as GGG; because she was Great Grandma Gladys-feisty, ornery, fun loving and in-control to the end, and will be missed by many. Gladys is predeceased by parents, Rudolf and Antonie Tichy, her beloved polka partner of 61 years, husband James C. Vejsicky, cherished sons Gerald J. and James R. Vejsicky, and brother Rudy Tichy. She is survived by daughters, Janette (Robert) Langdon, of Middleton, WI, and Gayle (Bryan) Callahan, of Lancaster, OH; special daughter-in-law, Janet Vejsicky, of New Concord, OH. A grandmother to Geoffrey Vejsicky, Kristen (Ryan) McLane, Megan Kennedy, Mairin Hesselbein, Andy (Ashley) Langdon, Claire Scott, SSG Jacob Fornshell, and Zachary (Donna) Fornshell. A great-grandmother to Sarah and Maddie Vejsicky, Molly and Macie McLane, Cooper and Colin Kennedy, Joseph Scott, Dylan Langdon, Sophie & Landon Fornshell, and Riley and Jaylyn Fornshell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Jane McLister. The family would to thank those who have cared for mom along life's way. By her wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, where she will be reunited with her favorite polka partner, our Daddy. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. We would recommend that you grab a chocolate, a flower, and share them with a friend. Be the sunshine to someone on their rainy day. God be with you till we meet again.

I am so sad to hear about the loss of Gladys. What a wonderful lady she was. I worked with her at Fairfield Medical Center, she was one of our Volunteers in Administration. Always had great stories, made great cookies at Christmas time and talked about polka dancing.

Rest in peace Gladys.
