To 1st Lady Jackson, grandchildren and family. I worked with you mother/grandmother at the VAMC Dept of Veteran Affairs. Mrs Brown always spoke positive and shared words of wisdom. I remember when she attended Hampton University while still employeed at the VA, which inspired me to attend and complete college while working too. May God Comfort You All and Give You P E A C E at this time and ALWAYS...

The first time our family met Gertrude was in 1976 at my Dad's auction. From that point on, she was part of our family. She was full of life, funny and a joy to be around. She loved our auctions and yard sales and loved "bidding" wars for that special treasure.
When my father passed away in 2000, Gertrude came to our house to pay her respects. Her driver was a little skeptical, but we ran out of the house and hugged her tightly. Love has no boundaries!
We will always remember the special lady that Gertrude was and she will truly be missed by our family. Our prayers are with you - may the Lord's comfort and grace be with you all.
All our love to you,

Words cannot express the sentiment in my heart. Thank you for sharing your mother and grandmother. Her words of wisdom, advice, counsel and the laughs we shared will always continue to make me smile. A mother's love is truly eternal and lives from the other side of the veil. Her life and legacy continue to inspire. Truth and grace imprinted on so many souls. Missed is an understatement. We walk stronger because of you Gertrude. Ezekiel 19:10 -- I love you Gertie! My blessings and love to the Brown/Jackson families...and to all of the surrogate children/grandchildren that she helped "raise"! With Love, Courtney

Floyd B. Gregory from 1200 Block of 30th Street NN, Virginia. The son of Georgia Ruth Gregory who lived with Joseph and Emma Forbes. Your Mom and Dad were friends with my parents for years. I have pics of us as children playing in the back yard, Constance, Cynthia and Julius. Before my parents passed they desperately tried to locate Ms. Gertrude Brown. Hopefully now they will meet on a different plateau. My condolences for your loss and God Speed to the remaining family. [email protected]
