Barr, Molly A.

Molly A. Barr, age 86, of Oak Brook, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on February 28, 1940, in Brazil, Indiana, to the late Eva Mae and James Austin Winn. Molly graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute and Indiana State University. She was an artist, art teacher, substitute teacher, tutor, and retail worker at different times in her life. She loved to share stories of her years as a marching band majorette. She also had a deep love of flowers and took great pride in the beautiful paintings she created over the years. Molly's gift for hospitality radiated through every aspect of her life; she was a talented baker, cook, and hostess. Family was paramount to Molly. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald A. Barr, in June of 1962. They were married for 54 years prior to his passing in 2016. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother-"Mimi." She took immense pride and joy in being part of her grandchildren's lives, attending nearly every academic, athletic, and extracurricular event, often traveling across state lines to do so. After decades in Indianapolis, where she and Don raised their children, Molly began a new chapter in November 2022, moving to The Sheridan at Oak Brook. As she always did, Molly made great new friends and enjoyed new hobbies while being closer to her daughter Susan and her family. Molly and Susan are grateful to all who cared for and welcomed her during her years at The Sheridan. Molly is survived by her daughter, Susan (Grant) Dixon of La Grange, IL; her son, Mark (Cristy) Barr of Carmel, IN; and her grandchildren: Molly and Madeline Dixon of Chicago, IL; Grant Dixon IV of La Grange, IL; and Katherine, McKenna, and Kayla Barr of Carmel, IN. While the loss of Molly is profound, it is a comfort that everyone who knew her was able to experience her light. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pet Central Helps!, 360 Wylie Drive, Suite 720, Normal, IL, are greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at La Grange Country Club, 620 S.
