Mark Garry Obituary

Garry , Mark

Following a few years of declining health, Mark Garry died on March 4, 2026 at Loyola Hospital. Mark was the beloved son of the late Rita and Chuck Garry of Riverdale and Palatine. He was the mischievous but much loved brother of Patty Garry, Paula Garry Noble, and brother-in-law of George Noble. Mark is also survived by dear Garry, Rogers, and Dee cousins and Noble in-laws. Mark was blessed by many long-time and loyal friends from various parts of his life: childhood neighbors from Riverdale and Queen of Apostles, classmates and teammates from Thornton High School, fellow alumni of University of Illinois and Sigma Chi, professional colleagues from a long career working in the Chicago rock-and-roll radio world, neighbors from Oak Park, and many others. In recent years, Mark became especially close to the faith communities at St. Luke and St. Giles parishes. In spite of his affection for the Cubby Bear, Mark was a lifelong White Sox fan and was super proud of the Brick at the ballpark honoring the Garry men. Mark's family will always be grateful to his friends and healthcare providers for their love and support over the years, sometimes an uphill battle. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on March 21, 2026, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7600 Lake Street, River Forest, to be followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am. Interment is private. A memorial celebration will be will be held at a later date, when friends and relatives will be warmly welcomed. Donations in Mark's name to Fisher House, a charity supporting the families of veterans, would be appreciated.
