Gerhard Kolb Obituary

Kolb, Gerhard G. Age 76, beloved husband of Maria, father of Martin (Stacy), stepfather of Christopher Kreb (Martina). He died on June 21, 2006 at home after a long battle with Alzheimer¹s. A skilled entrepreneur born in Unterrodach, Germany on October 17, 1929, he immigrated to the United States in 1956 and made his home in Chicago. He was a brilliant mechanical engineer who founded cutting tool manufacturer Unicut Corporation in 1968. He cared deeply for his work, building an idea into a successful company that has employed hundreds of people over the last 38 years. He was a generous man who always took care of his employees, his friends, and his family. He loved to travel and maintained lifelong friendships with people all around the world. He cared deeply about his adopted home of Chicago and was especially active in the Ravenswood neighborhood. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. At his request there will be no funeral service, but rather a memorial dinner in his honor by invitation.
