Gerald Soukal Obituary
Gerald F. "Jerry" Soukal, age 77. Beloved and Cherished husband to Patricia (nee Aftanas) for nearly 58 years. Loving father of Jerry (Gina), Debbie (Rick) Farris and Glenn (the late Desirea) Soukal. Dear papa of Carriann (Dan) Joyce, Samantha, Jerry, Sarah, Ricky, Maria and Emberlynn. Great papa of Owen and Evan. Dear brother of Joseph (Janece) and the late Frank Soukal. Fond uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was "Papa" to many of the family dogs.
Jerry was the longtime proprietor of the Soukal Floral Company which has been in business since 1916. He was also a past president of the Garfield Ridge Chamber of Commerce.
Visitation Saturday ONLY, September 23, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Richard-Midway Funeral Home, 5749 Archer Ave. (corner of Lorel). Funeral Monday, September 25, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, processing to St. Faustina Kowalska Church for a 10:00 a.m. mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Cancer Society would be appreciated. For more information please call 773-767-1840.

I remember getting to St. Jane de Chantal early on Sundays while it was still dark outside before 7:30am Mass to say the Rosary and Mr. Soukal and Mrs. Soukal would always be there. God Bless Him.

The Soukal Family has been a part of our lives since we were children going to St. Jane de Chantal School. Jerry´s mom and dad were respected members of our tight knit neighborhood and church community. I can still see Jerry in his Little Singers Choir robe singing beside Tommy Sanders and Greg Ginex, all under the direction of our beloved Sr. Miriam. I remember walks through the endless greenhouses that covered the entire city block. Childhood was beautiful in so many ways thanks to the Soukal Family. They provided the beauty for all our precious occasions....proms, weddings, etc. Even recently we would stop in to order something special and of course always have a great nostalgic talk with Jerry. He loved to reminisce about our adolescent years. Needless to say, Jerry will be sorely missed. I admire him for keeping the family business alive even through tough times. I pray for God´s grace on him and his grieving family. Paul and I will never forget him. He was a good man.
