Gerald Hammond Obituary
He was born March 14, 1946, in Watertown, N.Y., the son of Clyde W. and Dorothy (Hanson) Hammond.
He attended schools in Walpole and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Hammond owned and operated North Street Market in Chester, Vt. He also operated a mechanics shop and more recently worked for F.W. Whitcomb Construction in Walpole.
He enjoyed hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jessica Ann Barth, whom he married Sept. 27, 2003, in Charlestown; three children, Scott and Dominick, both of Charlestown, and Chad Hammond of Fairfax, Va.; four stepchildren, Timothy Joyce, Yavonne Smead, Angela Smith and Ronda Rawson; a brother, William Hammond of Arkansas; two sisters, Deb Garrett-Jennison and Mary Lou Hammond, both of Alstead; and several step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster St., Bellows Falls, Vt., where a brief service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Your cousins Will and Ashley were sorry they could not be there but want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Jessica and family,
I was saddened to hear of Gerry's passing. I have known Gerry for many years, the first was when he came to work for me at my service station in Bellows Falls, right after he got out of the service. We were both young, got a lot of work done but we also had a lot of fun after hours enjoying our youth ! Several years later, I had a small trucking company and Gerry leased his truck on with me...good times were had by all. As time passed and we went on to "bigger and better" things, we found ourselves working for Whitcomb...what a pleasant surprise.
Once again, I am so sorry about Gerry's passing but Gerry, with his compassion and enjoyment of life managed to live several lifetimes in one ! Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we will always remember his gentle smile and hearty laugh.
