Dear Phyllis, Steven and Lisa,
Our sincere condolences on the death of Gerry. Beth asked how you all were doing. I know it's been a terrible time for all of you due to Gerry's illness and knowing that he would probably not come home.
Ed and I and my whole family wish all of you strength for the future and I'm so glad you have all your beautiful grandchildren to make you happy.

I was very surprised and saddened to learn of Jerry's death. Jerry and I served in the same Army reserve unit. We apparently had taken our basic training at about the same time, and reported for the active reserve first in Evanston, and then at O'Hare Field. As a result we spent approximately five and half years together attending weekly meetings and 2 week summercamps. There were not many Jewish fellows in the unit, and for that and many more reasons - we bonded and became close friends. Maybe it was 'safety in numbers'. We did become over time good friends with our top sargent, Fred Tarnow ( a name you may recall). Following our service, I called on Jerry a number of times at his printing plant6 on North La Salle Street. As will happen unfortunately, you loose contact. I was very glad to read about you, his children, and grandchildre. Knowing Jerry, I know he will be missed but all better for having him as long as you did. My most sincere condolences. - Gil Sandow

To All Our Friends & Family:
We'd like to thank you all for your kind wishes and support. The overwhelming amount of people that have expressed their condolences is a tribute to the kind of man Jerry was.
If everyone were to take the time and exihibit a little of Jerry's selflessness and kindness, the world would be a better place.
