Georgia Maxwell Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Mrs. Georgia Janoulis Maxwell, of Atlanta, died December 4, 2005 following a courageous battle with non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Mrs. Maxwell was a member of the American Legion Post #224, and Georgia Chapter #127, Order of the Eastern Star. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, receiving EAMET Campaign Medal with two bronze service stars, having served in the Rhineland and Central Europe. She retired from government service after having served the US Army for 31 years. Mrs. Maxwell was also a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annuciation. She is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Helen N. Poulos, Mrs. Cleo S. Edwards, Mrs. Ida J. Lingos, all of Atlanta, Mrs. Catherine J. Matthews of Satellite Beach, FL, and Mrs. Mary H. Wilson of Marietta; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at 11:00 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annuciation with interment following at Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annuciation, 2500 Clairmont Road NE, Atlanta, GA. Arrangements by H.M.
