George Umholtz Obituary

George W. Umholtz, 94, of Gratz, died June 8, 2013, at the Kramm Health Care Center, Milton.

He was born in Lykens Twp. on July 7, 1918, a son of the late Lena M. (Koppenhaver) Umholtz and the late William H. Umholtz.

George was employed at Dormer Manufacturing in Gratz and later at Penn Real in Hegins.

He was the husband of the late Irene (Minnich) Unholtz, who proceeded him in death on May 2, 2008.

He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church Gratz, President of the Gratz Lykens Twp School Board, member of the Gratz Union Cemetery Board, Master of the Lykens Twp Grange, and member of the Gratz Senior Citizens.

George is survived by his son George Umholtz, Jr and wife Dawn of Milton, sister - Eleanor Roadcap of Millersburg; grandson - Kurt Umholtz; granddaughter - Jennifer Walls; two great-grandchildren - Brynn Umholtz, Leif McGeehan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Umholtz, and a sister, Marie Conrad.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 12, at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, with the Rev. Martine Joseph officiating. Interment was in Gratz Union Cemetery, Gratz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, PA 17030.
