George Rasch Obituary

Rasch, George age 97, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at home with family at his side September 16th, 2008. George was born February 13, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Anton and Anna (Kucera) Rasch. He spent his early life in Berwyn, Illinois. On August 13, 1948 in Hales Corners Wisconsin he married Eleanor K. Nolan, the couple recently celebrated there 60th wedding anniversary. Following marriage they lived in Berwyn, Ill and than a short period in Waterford, moving to Hales Corners and settling in Buena Park area of Waterford for the past 20 years. George's principle occupation was a furrier, working with mink and other furs. George was proud to serve his country in the Army during World War II. He was a past commander of local VFW post, and supported many military groups. Very proud to fly Old Glory in front of his home every day. While in Berwyn, Illinois, George enjoyed managing the little league at St. Mary's of Celle, and the past years in Waterford walking his white dog threw the neighborhood in Buena Park. Survived by loving wife of 60 years Eleanor, Five Children: Daniel (Jenny) of Berwyn, Illinois, Lee (Susan Fox) Rasch of LaCrosse, WI, Tom (Marge) Rasch of Menomonee Falls, WI, Peggy (Jim) Bennett of Inverness, Illinois & Steve Rasch of Waterford. Grandchildren: Erica (Andy), Aaron (Michelle), Jeff, Dana, Tammy (Alan) Shari (Ray) and Juliana. Seven great-grandchildren, two sisters: Lillian Prazan and Lorraine Douglas, niece's nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Emil and Tony. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, September 19th, 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 307 South First Street (Hwy 20) Waterford. Visitation in church 10 - 11 Friday. Burial in the church cemetery following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Western Technical College Foundation of LaCrosse or memorial of one's choice.
