Kiefer, Jr., George Henry 88, of Glenview, Illinois, one of the last true gentlemen of his generation, devoted husband of Elizabeth (nee Sheehan) of Springfield, IL, for 56 wonderful years, proud father of Martha (Richard) Cucco, Marianne (Timothy) Bestler, George III, and John Kiefer, adoring grandfather of Emily and Laura Cucco, and Alison and Natalie Bestler, loving uncle to Anne (Larry) Antonacci, Patrick (Carla) Sheehan, William (Marilyn) Sheehan, Michael Sheehan, and Timothy (Mary Jo) Sheehan, fond brother-in-law to the late William P. (Margaret) Sheehan. Lifetime summer resident of Lake Geneva, WI, George was an avid sailboat racer and adventurous iceboater, at one time being clocked at 120 mph. Whether it was in daily life or on the water, he liked to go fast! He served as past Commodore of the Lake Geneva Yacht Club and Skeeter Iceboat Club, Honorary Director of the Geneva Lake Association, past Director for the Inland Lake Yachting Association, National E-Scow Association, past president Geneva Lake Sailing School and won several international, national and local races and regattas. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Lucy Amberg Kiefer of Chicago. He was a graduate of Latin School of Chicago and Northwestern University, and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Visitation Tuesday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home 10045 Skokie Blvd., at Old Orchard Rd., Skokie. Funeral Mass Wednesday, 10 a.m., at St. Mary of the Woods Church, 7033 N. Moselle Ave., Chicago. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Catholic Charities, Dept. 1623, Box N, Chicago, IL, 60690 or the Geneva Lake Sailing School, P.O.
