George Goetschel Obituary

Goetschel, George M. age 54, of Prairie Creek, IN, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 8, 2009 in Union Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1955 in Chicago, IL to George F. and Helen (Durkin) Goetschel. He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He worked for 31 years for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and a postal clerk. George loved fishing, camping, reading, and you almost never saw him without a cup of coffee. In earlier years he did stained glass work. He was a member of the Beran Brothers at Maryland Community Church where he attended for many years. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, his loving wife, Nancy (Snyder) Goetschel whom he married on June 4, 1983, three children, Michael Goetschel ATAN, US Navy, Norfolk, VA, Marissa Goetschel of Prairie Creek, IN, and Morgan Goetschel of Aurora, IL. He is also survived by sisters, Helen Polgar and husband Gary of Bolingbrook, IL, Patricia Miller and husband Norm of Washington, IN, and Monica Gendreau of Villa Park, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Longyear officiating. Cremation will follow.
