To the family of George Eckert- my sincere condolences. I worked at the meat market in Oak Lawn in the early 1970's while I was in high school going to Oak Lawn High. I have many great memories of working for George, Austin, and all of the butchers there- Dave, Stanley, Ralph, Jimmy, Rel, Walter, and Lester. George was a great guy to work for- a real "regular guy", father, and family man. I have thought about him often over the years. I stopped in at the store a few years ago just before it closed.
I didn't get to see George that day.
I'm sorry I missed him!

To Steve, a good friend and co-worker. I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. If he's anything like the man you are I know he was a wonderful man. My condolences, Ron Spagnolo (Morton h.s.)

We will always cherish the good times we spent together and we will never have corn beef as good as that from Eckert's. You will be missed by many.
